David L. Kolb

FCIF held its eleventh banquet on January 26, 1991 at the Imperial Ballroom of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Our honoree that evening was David L. Kolb, President and CEO of Mohawk Carpet Corporation.
During David Kolb’s nearly 25-year tenure at Mohawk, the company experienced tremendous growth, expanding from $200 million in revenue to becoming the leader in the floor covering industry with annual sales exceeding $5 billion. One of his key accomplishments was overseeing Mohawk's spin-off from its parent company through a leveraged buyout.
In 1992, Kolb took Mohawk public and spearheaded the consolidation of the floor covering industry by leading a series of a dozen acquisitions over eight years. His vision, strategy, and relentless work ethic were credited with transforming both the company and the industry. Additionally, Kolb served as a past Chairman of the Carpet & Rug Institute.
